Abstract

We report quantitative measurements of self-contamination in conventional and modified multi-SMF mechanically transferable (MT) connector ferrules. The modifications enable connector wear, insertion loss (IL), and IL reproducibility that are essentially equivalent to conventional ceramic ferrule connectors.
