Abstract

In this paper, the importance of Bragg gratings detuning in a Mach-Zehnder-based optical add-drop multiplexer is emphasized. This parameter has to be minimized to achieve a high-performance component in order to add, drop, or transmit dense-wavelength-division-multiplexed channels at the same time. The Bragg gratings phase mismatch influence on throughput isolation and on the backreflected signal spectral shape during UV trimming is also discussed.
